If you are not currently a project participant and wish to help you may still participate in the project. This status should be changed if collaborative activity resumes.
WikiProject Atheism aims primarily to organize, neutrally develop, and improve the series of articles on atheism in accordance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. This page and its sub-pages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

Scope
[edit ]We will strive to improve all Atheism-related articles to Featured Article status, while still retaining a neutral point of view. We will also help prevent religion-based censorship throughout Wikipedia. All editors are welcome to participate, regardless of one's beliefs or disbeliefs. You do not have to identify as an atheist to participate in this WikiProject.

Join WikiProject atheism and be bold.
- Add a userbox to your page ({{User WikiProject Atheism}} or {{User WPA2}}) and attract potential members.
- Help with articles.
- See this month's adopt-an-article.
- Help out with this to-do list.
Be consistent
- Use a "standard" layout for atheism-related articles (see layout style, "The perfect article" and Featured articles).
- Add Atheism info box to all atheism related talk pages (use {{WikiProject Atheism}} or see info box)
- Ensure atheism-related articles are members of Atheism by checking whether [[Category:Atheism]] has been added to atheism-related articles – and, where it hasn't, adding it.
Maintenance, etc.
- Find sources for all positions of an article (see Citing sources and atheism references).
- Try to expand stubs. Ideas and theories about life, however, are prone to generating neologisms, so some stubs may be suitable for deletion (see deletion process).
- Watch the list of atheism-related articles and add to accordingly.
- Always write for an encyclopedia.

- State atheism needs a reassessment of its Importance level, as it has little to do with atheism and is instead an article about anti-theist/anti-religious actions of governments.

- Secular movement defines it as a being restricted to America in the 21st century.

- Improve List of atheists to Featured List quality by adding citations and concise and relevant details to each entry.
Adopt an article
[edit ]Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

[edit ]This project welcomes all editors wanting to improve Wikipedia's coverage of atheism-related topics. In particular, this project welcomes both atheists and non-atheists. Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia rather than a discussion forum, discussions of personal thoughts and beliefs should be avoided.
