Project scope

[edit ]

What topics we cover

[edit ]

WikiProject Anime and manga's scope includes all topics related to anime and manga as well as all media, persons, organizations and fandom substantially related to any anime and manga franchise. This includes international subjects necessary for comprehensive coverage of the core topics.

What topics we do not cover

[edit ]

This project maintains an essential focus on anime, manga, and related merchandise originally meant for consumption in Japan. Therefore, its scope does not include works with incidental or minor association, including (but not limited to):

  • Animated or printed works produced for consumption outside of Japan that nevertheless draw on or are similar to Japanese media in terms of content or form (such as Chinese animation, Korean animation, manhwa , manhua and Western manga-styled comics such as Gothic Sports and Peach Fuzz ).
  • Media, particularly video games, in which anime or manga characters make incidental or out-of-context appearances.
  • Pre-modern manga such as Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga , their artists, and other related elements. These are better suited for inclusion with the Japan and Art WikiProjects.
  • Composers, bands and musicians with incidental anime or manga association, such as having only a few of their songs used for anime opening or ending theme songs.
  • Articles on compilation albums with only a few anime or manga related tracks.

Goals

[edit ]

As a WikiProject, our main goals are to:

  • Ensure that all anime and manga-related articles are clean, organized, well-written, and accessible;
  • improve all anime and manga-related articles to at least good article, featured article, and/or featured list status; and
  • create new articles relating to anime and manga as long as they are encyclopedic and adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Joining the project

[edit ]

Anyone who edits or contributes to anime and manga related articles is a participant, and there are no other requirements for membership. If they like, users can further identify themselves with the project by signing up as a participant. This helps spread the word about the project, and lets other editors know what types of articles that user is interested in editing. Users can also join the project chat on the unofficial Wikimedia Discord server; see WP:Discord for more information.

Signing up as a participant...

Users can add themselves to the listing at Category:WikiProject Anime and manga participants by adding the following to their user page:

[[Category:WikiProject Anime and manga participants]]

Users can display the project's userbox (pictured above-right) by adding {{User WP Anime }} to their pages, also automatically signing them up as participants.

Alternatively, users may use a topicon to show they are members of WikiProject Anime and manga by adding {{WikiProject Anime and manga top icon }} to their pages, also automatically signing them up as participants.
