IMO the scope of this template should be expanded to cover RIM products or RIM in general. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 06:39, 10 November 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
- Sure, why not, when I first started the template I had ideas along the same lines, but I'm not that familar with the RIM ecosystem of products and services.—IncidentFlux [ TalkBack | Contributions ] 07:00, 10 November 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
- Doesn't sound controversial. Just need to decide how big the universe of RIM-related articles is for the near-term to figure out the target. Is there going to be just RIM itself and its products, or are there lots of RIM-related issues other than "just the company" and "its products"? DMacks (talk) 02:43, 18 November 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
- I've removed this discussion from the WP:RM backlog, since a) the move isn't controversial and b) the move doesn't need admin intervention. Cheers!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 16:45, 18 November 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Would it be okay to rename this template?
[edit ]I'm hoping to make this template more of a centerpiece of the RIM/BlackBerry articles. Would anyone be against renaming this? I was thinking something more like: "BlackBerry", "BlackBerry platform", "BlackBerry Operating System", or just "Research in Motion"(My personal favourite). I'm thinking this because it has indeed expanded beyond the "RIM Phones" realm. I feel we might as well include things like QNX? Especially as it was recently bought-out by RIM. Keep in mind RIM is working on other things like tablets, so the existing name doesn't fit RIM's overall product portfolio now anyway.
I encourage everyone to help in this discussion. I don't want to ruffle any feathers as a newcomer, yet I want to get more collaboration going on this article and its related topics. Thank You. CaribDigita (talk) 20:23, 14 February 2011 (UTC) [reply ]
