The contentious topics procedure applies to this article. This article relates to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them.
This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more transgender people. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it does not match what is most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Some people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard.

ALT1: ... that a March 2026 benefit concert has been described "as a massive, glittering middle finger to the hostility the trans community faces in the UK on a daily basis"?
New and just long enough (see above); Sourced, neutral, and free from copyvio. Hooks are cited in the article, but except for ALT1, which is too long, aren't all that interesting. I think there's a lot of potential hooks that can be created based on the new sources that were just published about the benefit concert that took place.[1][2][3][4] I think you can salvage the three hooks up above by making slight changes, but I also think creating new hooks from new content in the above articles is even better, and will also help expand this topic and talk about the event which took place. Let me know what you think. Viriditas (talk) 22:45, 12 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I've expanded the article with content with the first three of those sources; Gay Times is paywalled. ALT1 is compliant with WP:DYK200, but could be shortened to ALT1a: ... that a March 2026 benefit concert has been described "as a massive, glittering middle finger" to the daily hostility faced by the UK trans community?. What hooks were you thinking of?--Launchballer08:21, 13 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Alice Litman was never on DYK before. Her mother spoke at the event. Litman killed herself because she was denied gender-affirming healthcare. Connecting Litman to the event is a good way to bring the issue front and center again.[5][6] I realize that's not going to be an easy hook to write. It will take finesse and care to combine euphoria and pathos, but it could work. Perhaps something like
approving ALT1a and ALT2 (Viriditas' suggestion). ALT1A accurately cuts down on ALT1 below the character limit and I believe it is fine to summarize that part of the quote into wikivoice. 1brianm7 (talk) 15:12, 13 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t read it that way at all, and the sources say it was one of the highlights of the event. Can you offer an alternative hook that doesn’t have the problem you see? Viriditas (talk) 21:28, 13 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
