"Golden Rule" origin

[edit ]

The article currently credits Eugene Spafford with the parody of the Golden Rule: "them that has the gold makes the rules." Surely this parody predates Spafford, doesn't it? Unfortunately, I can't find it in Bartlett's, Brewer's, or similar references. Does anyone have a reference crediting it either to Spafford or to some earlier source?

Usenet/Backbone Cabal?

[edit ]

I don't think so. ...but how can one prove that someone was not a member of a group that didn't exist? Ah well, I was present at "The Great Renaming" and he wasn't there. His name is also not associated with any of the backbone sites.

I didn't meet Joel until the early '90s which was well after the cabal.

What? Oh, right. There is no cabal... Digitalican 19:57, 7 September 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

Serdar Argic T-shirt

[edit ]

This article reminds me that I still own three of Joel Furr's circa 1995 t-shirts, including the Serdar Argic "Howling in the Wires" t-shirt. Would a JPG of it be welcomed and/or desirable?
