What are the sources for James Kelly 'dying of natural causes'

[edit ]

The James Kelly wiki page said he died of 'double lobular pneumonia' according to his death certificate, however, a search turns up no sources. Phil of rel (talk) 16:26, 11 June 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

Charles Lechmere

[edit ]

The section leans heavily on a single source, Holmgren. Holmgren is a vocal proponent of the theory that Lechmere was the Ripper, but this article ignores other contributors to the theory, such as Eddy Butler, who uses the pseudonym Stow. It also does not provide any counterpoint, giving undue weight to theory not supported by the majority of works on the subject. I have removed some statements that were not just unsourced, but wrong. The section still needs a good deal of work and I suspect the full article about the subject does as well. Edward321 (talk) 03:38, 2 October 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

Ok, I have removed the contentious material from his section, which might have done with condensation anyway. Any problems with Lechmere's own article should be dealt with there. PatGallacher (talk) 20:23, 27 August 2024 (UTC) [reply ]

Painting

[edit ]

According to a source cited, the title of the painting Portrait of Walter Sickert as Jack the Ripper is the invention of the painting's owner, Johann Naldi, who has just published a book about it. From the bit of face seen in the painting the man could just as well be Patrick Macnee, Ian McKellen, Norman Wisdom, Ken Dodd, Matt Smith, or somebody remotely similar. Even if we accept that the painting is by Blanche (uncertain), and that it depicts Sickert (speculative), this is evidence of what?? The spamming of this material by SPAs here and in Walter Sickert and in Jack the Ripper in fiction and in Patricia Cornwell looks to me like a publicity campaign. The rounds in the news are coming out again about Aaron Kosminski. This is more of a be aware of IPs. What is written is fine for the article until a study 100% proves it was him. Conyo14 (talk) 17:51, 14 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
