Missing text

[edit ]

I am translating this article into French. So first, thank you to all the contributors of this original page. Secondly, in the part named "Ehlers group", the following sentence is not complete : "This symmetry between the tt-component of the metric and a term known as the twist potential is analogous to ". Could somenone help me ? Thanks in advance. Kikuyu3 (talk) 20:34, 19 November 2010 (UTC) [reply ]

Thanks, User:Runfellow and User:Wadewitz, for your helpful comments in the course of the recent peer review for this article! I've implemented most of the suggestions that you made, and given reasons in those cases where I didn't implement suggested changes. Markus Poessel (talk) 19:54, 2 November 2012 (UTC) [reply ]

Request to Guild of Copy Editors

[edit ]

Following a suggestion from User:Runfellow in the course of the recent peer review, I've posted a request on the request page of the Guild of Copy Editors for someone to copy-edit the article. Let's see what comes of this. Markus Poessel (talk) 19:57, 2 November 2012 (UTC) [reply ]

Copy edit

[edit ]

As per request, took a pass at this. Feedback warmly encouraged. Comments:

  • Overall in great shape.
  • I worked to simplify sentence structure. I found many occasions to do so. In a couple of places, I couldn't completely interpret the original and left it alone. I added a clarify tag to one instance. More to do here.
  • There were many references to "Einstein" and "Einstein's theory". I left most, but don't understand why the qualification is repeated so often. E.g., I suggest removing it from "Prior to Ehlers' arrival, the main research of Jordan's group had been dedicated to a scalar-tensor modification of Einstein's theory of general relativity, now known as Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory" unless there is some other theory of GR.
  • I left in a tag requesting a clarification of the difference between a "property" and a "characteristic".
  • I noticed at least one case of a citation duplicated in two references. I left it because it was combined with another cite in the same reference. I prefer multiple, non-duplicative references, but I let it be.
  • The term "duality symmetry" was unclear to me. Is that a kind of symmetry (are there non-duality symmetries too?)
  • It would humanize him to include something about his life outside his profession.

Many thanks for copy-editing the article! I'll address your remaining suggestions and "clarify" tag over the next days. The problem of adding something about his life outside his profession is, of course, the lack of reliable sources... -Markus Poessel (talk) 21:55, 30 November 2012 (UTC) [reply ]

Ehlers group missing something

[edit ]

A simple example for a duality is that between the electric field E and the magnetic field field B electrodynamics:

The above extract from the Ehlers group section appears to be missing something, should the last part instead read "magnetic field B in electrodynamics"? -84user (talk) 11:50, 18 June 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
