His mom died giving birth to him that is why his dad had a strained relationship with him.[citation needed ]

Where was he born?

[edit ]

This website (which may not be a reliable source) explains how Chan was born in San Francisco. The article had previously said that he was born in Hong Kong, citing a Christianity Today article which referred to him as a "Hong Kong native". I suppose "native" doesn't necessarily mean he was born there - and so the sources are not necessarily contradictory - but I would still like some better sourcing. the article currently also says he was born in a specific hospital located in HK, in the same sentence that it says he was born in sf Bracewell94 (talk) 00:49, 11 January 2020 (UTC) [reply ]

disambiguation, possible confusion

[edit ]

The conflicting birth locations might be due to there being more than one notable Francis Chan. At Oregon State university there is another, with no page here yet, involved with biology and cited in a number of news articles relating to biological health along the western U.S. coast. example http://www.pressdemocrat.com/csp/mediapool/sites/PressDemocrat/News/story.csp?cid=2226901&sid=555&fid=181 99.127.138.197 (talk) 21:23, 21 December 2014 (UTC) [reply ]

Tone of article

[edit ]

This article reads like a promotional text. It needs to be more encyclopediac. Some of the sources are just Chan's own marketing materials. These need to be changed to reliable 3rd party sources. Aside from that, a lot of the text is in the form 'As of ...' and 'according to the website' which hints at WP:OR problems. These need to also be changed to secondary sources. LGBT Paranoia

I added some text from a recent interview with a cite to the source. There is still insufficient balance to this article which reads like a puff piece. David Cary Hart (talk) 19:14, 1 February 2019 (UTC) [reply ]
