Map

[edit ]

That's an ... odd map. The lead says Montana/Oklahoma and the map shows a solid block for Montana which I'm sure is not quite the spread. Akerbeltz (talk) 13:20, 17 August 2011 (UTC) [reply ]

It just shows the states with high numbers of speakers of Cheyenne. Tezero (talk) 16:33, 24 March 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

It's a pretty good article so far, but it needs citations/references. It's also fairly short, and doesn't completely address the topic (very little on the morphosyntax, nothing on the sociolinguistic side, etc.), and it uses a lot of jargon-heavy language without defining it (and without wikilinking those terms). I don't think it's a B-Class just yet. --Miskwito 16:31, 17 March 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

Article Overview

[edit ]

This article is very good at getting straight to the point and not drowning in filler information. I especially liked all the detail on the voicing and phonology of the language. It was refreshing to see a sections like that being so organized and easy to understand. The references all seem to be very reliable, plentiful resources. I was actually surprised at one of them that listed sections and sections of websites to get information on the language from. It seemed like a very useful tool in the process of your information gathering. Some of the few things I noticed that could use attention are the leading section, current status, and geographic range. These sections seemed a bit sparse and could use some additional information to really complete their purpose in the article. Obviously you'll complete such things as the article continues to grow but these changes would greatly help the reader to understand how the article is organized and get a better understanding of the sections provided. The grammar and voicing type sections were very interesting for me personally, but most people will look at the history of the language and the more "interesting" facts before they will care about the grammar. Therefore I believe the most important section to focus on is the geographic range/current status. I was truly intrigued by the way your article was organized and will most likely use the same format for my own article; especially when it comes to phonology and voicing (I hadn't thought of those two things!). Overall this article is looking good, it just needs some more meat on its bones and it will be complete!

Number of Speakers

[edit ]

The phrasing of number of speakers is unclear: "At the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, where as of March 2013, there were approximately 10,050 enrolled tribal members, of which about 4,939 resided on the reservation" -- First, "where" makes it unclear syntactically; Second, do 10,050 people or 4,939 live at/on the reservation? pronunciation

[edit ]

Can someone please add the audio for the pronunciation of "Tsétsêhéstâhese"? Thanks! 73.170.203.143 (talk) 06:23, 2 January 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
