Belton lake is said to have been built over an ancient city im very curious if this rumor is true —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.122.71.161 (talk) 22:42, 12 May 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

There were several small settlements in that valley before it was dammed, but I'm not sure there are many cities in central Texas that I would label as 'ancient'. Could you give some more details as to what the rumor is? Kuru ^talk 23:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

The rumor, as someone who used to live in the area, is that you can snag your fishing line on old church steeples and such; that the buildings were never cleared away when the lake was formed, that unmoved graves also exist down there. 2601:540:C700:42DF:76C8:5F43:53F1:5C95 (talk) 06:20, 26 July 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
