2026 Minnesota elections
A general election will be held in the U.S. state of Minnesota on November 3, 2026. All of Minnesota's executive officers will be up for election, as well as one United States Senate seat, Minnesota's eight seats in the United States House of Representatives, all the seats in the Minnesota Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives, several judicial seats, and several seats for local offices. Primary elections to nominate major party candidates and several judicial and local primary elections will be held as needed on August 11, 2026.[1]
Federal elections
[edit ]United States Senate
[edit ]Minnesota's Class 2 seat in the United States Senate will be up for election. Incumbent Tina Smith is not running for re-election.[2] This will be the open race in this seat since 2002.[a]
United States House of Representatives
[edit ]Minnesota's eight seats in the United States House of Representatives will be up for election. The DFL and the Republicans currently hold four seats each.
State elections

[edit ]Governor
[edit ]Incumbent DFL Governor Tim Walz is eligible for re-election.[3] Minnesota does not have gubernatorial term limits.[4]
Secretary of state
[edit ]Incumbent DFL secretary of state Steve Simon is eligible for re-election.
State auditor
[edit ]Incumbent DFL State Auditor Julie Blaha is eligible to run for re-election.
Attorney general
[edit ]Incumbent DFL attorney general Keith Ellison is eligible for re-election.
State legislative elections
[edit ]Minnesota Senate
[edit ]All 67 seats in the Minnesota Senate will be up for election in 2026. The DFL holds a majority of 34 seats, with the Republican Party holding 33.[5]
Minnesota House of Representatives
[edit ]All 134 seats in the Minnesota House of Representatives will be up for election in 2026. After the 2024 Minnesota House of Representatives election, the house was tied 67-67 between the Republican Party and the DFL; the 94th Minnesota Legislature began with a one-seat Republican majority due to a single vacancy.[5]
Judicial elections
[edit ]Three of Minnesota's seven supreme court justices will be up for re-election in 2026.[6]
Local elections
[edit ]Elections for several subdivisions will be held, including elections for counties, municipalities, school districts, and hospital districts.
