Routes API

  • The routes.googleapis.com service provides access to Google Maps Routes API for route planning and optimization.

  • It offers two main RPC methods: ComputeRouteMatrix and ComputeRoutes.

  • ComputeRouteMatrix calculates routes for all combinations of origins and destinations, returning route information in a stream.

  • ComputeRoutes determines the best route and optional alternatives between specified waypoints.

Methods
ComputeRouteMatrix Takes in a list of origins and destinations and returns a stream containing route information for each combination of origin and destination.
ComputeRoutes Returns the primary route along with optional alternate routes, given a set of terminal and intermediate waypoints.
