    si l'image en png n'a pas le canal de transparence d'activé (nommé canal alpha), effectivement tu ne pourras pas travailler sur cette transparence.

    Pour l'activer : control + L : liste des calques.
    Clic droit sur le calque, choisir "ajouter un canal alpha".

    maintenant ton image supporte la transparence (ex : avec effacement, dégradés etc)
