"The underlying distribution I have on it is SuSE 7.3. In my experience, SuSE is great for notebook machines because it has the most robust PCMCIA support I've seen. The pcmcia-cs folks have done a tremendous job, and SuSE has "themed" the modules in a way that makes PCMCIA use painless -- something I thought I'd never say about PCMCIA, which is in many ways a flawed standard. (The hot plugging is in fact so good now that I can put the machine in "hibernate" mode, in which everything in RAM plus video RAM is swapped to disk and the machine is powered down, remove or insert a PCMCIA card, and upon awakening from the hibernate the card is recognized, initialized, and its module loaded. This is impressive stuff.)"
