- There have been lot of discussions recently about the right way to report a security bug to the kernel team. Some people were for reporting on LKML, other directly to mainteners by private email, other for creating a security ML with closed subscription, other for using the dedicated bugzilla feature, etc. For us lazy users who haven't read this lengthy threads till the end, could you summarize this debate a bit, and give us the conclusion (if any) ?
- Many Linux users seems to think that using vanilla kernels is safer and more stable than using the "crappy overpatched" ones from there Linux distribution. But with the new 2.6 development model, that doesn't seem to be a good idea anymore (if it has ever been one btw). What advice would you give to this people? Use -ac? Use -as? Something else?
- Your patchset, apart from security and other misc. bug fixes, is "mostly IDE updates". Could you tell us more on that point? Does it concern only owners of very recent/exotic hardware, or are there deeper changes that concern all IDE users?
