Tu mélange tout. Il y a plusieurs façon de virtualiser. Par exemple Xen dégrade quasiment pas les performances. Beaucoup d'applications professionnels n'existent pas sous Linux. Grâce à la virtualisation tu peut utiliser Linux et ton application Windows en même temps. De plus, cela peut être utile pour faire accepter un logiciel sous Linux: Vous ne pouvez pas vous passer de M$ Office. Pas de problème avec la virtualisation ...
Curieusement le site de Xen parlait dans le temps d'un port sous Windows par Microsoft. Aujourd'hui c'est tout autre:

Unfortunately we do not currently support Windows; the paravirtualized approach we use to get such high performance has not been usable directly for Windows to date. However recently announced hardware support from Intel and AMD will allow us to transparently support Windows XP & 2003 Server in the near future. We are working on this and intend to have support available by the time the new processors are available.
Pourquoi? Xen Fonctionne très bien avec Linux et Bsd. Xen est il trop puissant?
