Puisque ça semble en amuser certains de se prendre le chou sur les applis qui ne sont pas GPL, je copie/colle ici un message qui est paru sur la mailing list du kernel Linux :
We already have so-called "proprietary" code being included into the kernel. This started with "harmless" bits of binary which is uploaded into the hardware when some drivers are installed. Including such binary is also contrary to GPL, but without this secret goo, the hardware won't run.
This exception to GPL, in my opinion, opened the door to future corruption and exploitation. Time will tell.
Pour résumer, les sources du noyau Linux ne sont pas complètement sous license GPL car certains drivers sont obligés d'uploader un bout de code propriétaire pour initialiser le hard sinon, ben ça ne marche tout simplement pas.
Jetez un oeil sur drivers/net/acenic_firmware.h ou drivers/net/dgrs_firmware.c par exemple...
Je vous laisse méditer là dessus :-)
PS : J'ai presque hésité à suggérer une news avec ce sujet mais je trouve ça suffisament gonflant donc j'ai évité :-)
