• # Mail a Plextor Europe

    Voila le mail que je propose d'envoyer lundi a Plextor Europe:

    Dear Sir,

    We contact you to enquire about our project of an Open Source software that would allow Linux users of Plextor DVD burners PX-712 and PX-716 to use advanced features, such as the Q-check PIE/PIF and TA tests. Unfortunately, such features are only accessible through the Windows-only utility Plextools, and it would be a great advantage for Plextor to bring these functions to their non-Windows users, who are also loyal customers. This project would be performed as a community project and would be hosted by a Free software repository, such as Sourceforge.net.

    We are pleased that your company already promotes Linux software on your website (http://www.plextor.be/technicalservices/technology/linux.asp?choice(...)). This already allowed to create speed change utilities or several CD writing software. One of them, cdrecord, has become the most popular CD writing program under Linux/Unix OSes, and it supports PoweRec, GigaRec and VariRec functions. There are also programs for other OSes, such as OS/2, Amiga and MacOS (MacPlexTools), showing the active interest of developers for Plextor devices.

    Also, would it be possible to get technical support from your part, such as technical documentations about the communication interface of the DVD writers ?

    Plextor has already a great reputation as a great quality drive maker and would reinforce this reputation towards the non-Windows users.

    J'attends la reponse d'Alexander, mais toutes suggestions sont grandement appreciees. D'autre part, si certains ici connaissent des gens a Plextor Europe, je serais ravi d'etr mis en contact.
