Une bonne partie des fichiers disponibles sont encodés en shn, un algo sans perte un peu comme flac.
J'ai un peu galéré avant de trouver un plugin pour xmms :
xmms-shn

Bien qu'étant opensource, le plugin possède une license non libre :
