Il peut être utile dans certains cas d'avoir une carte de meilleure qualité notamment pour ce qui concerne la gestion vlan 802.1q.
Les cartes intel sont fortement conseillées (pro100 & pro1000) car le driver de celles-ci fournit par intel et inclu par defaut dans le noyau supporte de base (et surtout correctement) la gestion des vlans.
