I think that by watching a movie in original language you can more easily appreciate the spirit of the movie. Of course, translations are sometimes good but it depends on the movie type.
If you want to look at an action movie, dialogs are often useless. If you want to look at a comedy, it is often better to listen to (or read) the original text.
One movie I watched in VOST and then in VF is "Good Bye Lenin". If I had watched this movie un french first, I will never had appreciate it as I did.
