A report claiming that the Linux kernel will be rewritten to avoid patent infringements has been termed "a bunch of nonsense" by a spokesperson for the Open Source Development Labs.
The article appeared in Linux Business Week last Friday, and claimed that IBM, Intel, and OSDL would announce on January 25 that the Linux kernel would be rewritten to avoid treading "on other people's IP - or at least the 27 Microsoft patents that Linux supposedly infringes."
Author Maureen O'Gara wrote that the tactic was dubbed "Operation Open Gates."
