-evolutif: The update to recent versions of Mandrakelinux is not supported by Mandrakesoft. BTW it should work fine even if we won't test it very deeply. And if it goes wrong, you will be able to restore the product to its original state with the restoration script on the MiniCD. And yes, you can configure the urpmi sources the way you want. By default, the only source is the "/mnt/package" partition which is mounted in read-only mode.
-par rapport à une mdk "normale": It would be very difficult to release the software separately. The R&D team has worked a lot to make the most of the LaCie hard drive and the installation process is quite complex. We can't release a software that would work on most hardware (eg iPod). GlobeTrotter is really more than just a hard drive + a Mandrakelinux distribution.
Bref pour les non anglophones, on peut le mettre à jour comme on veut mais il n'y a pas de support mandrake pour ça; mais si ca foire on peut revenir à l'état initial de la machine.
C'est un produit qui est plus qu'une distro collée dans un périphérique; en l'état elle n'est pas installable sur n'importe quoi mais conçue pour et adaptée à ce disque particulier; installation qui est d'ailleurs difficile à réaliser.
