The timing is notable. Caldera began contributing directly to development of an enterprise-scalable Linux at around the same time SCO acquired the historical Bell Labs codebase in 1995, fully five years before IBM became seriously involved in Linux development in 1999-2000.
Caldera acquired the SCO brand in 2001. During the more than eighteen months between the cancellation of Project Monterey and the filing of the complaint, Caldera continued to garner revenues from the SMP-enabled kernel it distributed in SCO Linux."
