5. a swelling on the lower part of the back of the hock of a horse, often causing lameness.

7. to cause (a dog) to keep near the curb when defecating.
8. to furnish with or protect by a curb.
9. to put a curb on (a horse).

2. 'kerb'
Curb is also the American spelling of the noun kerb. There is no difference in pronunciation. The kerb is the raised edge between a pavement and a road.
