ADDITIONAL INFORMATION for MNT2 |
LOCUS SUMMARY NOTES for MNT2 (Last Updated: 2011年05月18日) - Mnt2p is an alpha-1,2-mannosyl transferase that functions in O-glycosylation during cell-wall mannoprotein biosynthesis; in C. albicans, O-glycans are linear oligosaccharides of one to five alpha-1,2-linked mannose residues; Mnt2p adds the third mannose residue and is is partially redundant with Mnt1p (8)
- the mnt1 mnt2 mutant lacks the 4 terminal O-linked alpha-1,2-mannosyl residues which are important for stimulating TLR4-dependent cytokine responses during infection of human mononuclear cells (11)
- mnt2 mutants are reduced in adherence to human buccal epithelial cells and Matrigel-coated surfaces, indicating a role for O-glycosylated cell wall proteins or O-mannan in adhesion to host surfaces (8)
- the evaluation of adherence properties of mnt2 mutants is complicated by the URA3 status of the strain; ura3 strains used as controls show decreased adhesion (12)
- Mnt2p plays a role in role in virulence; mnt1 mnt2 double mutants are attenuated in virulence in a mouse model of systemic infection (8)
- the transcript is upregulated during the mating process of C. albicans (13)
- its expression is modestly induced during cell wall regeneration following protoplasting (14)
- MNT2 has also been called KRE2
