UNESCO Nairobi
Established in 1965, the UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa in Nairobi supports 13 countries: Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, and Uganda.
UNESCO Nairobi also hosts and coordinates key UNESCO programmes: the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) Sub Commission for Africa and the Adjacent Island States, the International Hydrological Programme (IHP), and the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB). The Office works with Member States to strengthen regional capacity, advance knowledge-sharing, and shape policies and frameworks for sustainable development.
