Students
Most RP-PCP students are post-graduates. Through the Zimbabwean institutions, they can engage on MSc (1 year), Mphil (2 years), or PhD (at least 3 years). Through other institutions and co-founding, they can engage on MSc, PhD or other degrees if the scope and geographic area of the project corresponds to the ones defined by the RP-PCP and if an agreement has been reached with the Steering Committee.
Every year, a selection process of research projects is organized. At the end of the year, project proposals are submitted to the coordinator who circulates them among members of the scientific committee . During the first Steering Committee of the year, projects are selected based on scientific criteria, available funds, and potential co-funding. The following year, on-going projects are evaluated and if more support is requested, the steering committee assesses the relevance of the request. Each year, funding is given in priority to on-going projects.
If most students are young academic , students belonging to governmental services such as the Park Wildlife and Management Authority and the Department of Veterinary Services are encouraged in order to implement stakeholder-driven science and to promote the capacity building of local services.
