On October 24, 2025, under a crisp early autumn sky, the 62nd KYOKUYO Open Golf Tournament teed off once again -- and what a day it was.

The Shimonoseki Cutter Race, traditionally held in the sweltering heat of July, was moved to October this year − likely in response to growing awareness and regulation around heatstroke prevention in the workplace. With milder weather and clearer skies, the 11th edition of the event offered great racing conditions for all participating teams.

We’re pleased to announce that, as of April 1, 2025, we have implemented a new organizational structure for our manufacturing operations.

After a three-year hiatus due to the unfortunate circumstances of the pandemic, the much-anticipated Shimonoseki Cutter Race was finally resumed last year on a reduced scale. This year, the event returned to its original form and welcomed many teams from all over the country, including teams from Shimonoseki and beyond!

In the spring of this year, Kyokuyo Shipyard implemented a significant increase and expansion of "childcare support," including congratulatory gifts for births and enrollment in elementary and junior high schools.

On June 28, we celebrated the graduation ceremony of the annual training program for new recruits at the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center (ORSC) in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture. Seven of our new recruits returned safely with a slightly more mature look (one with blond hair) after completing the three-month training program that began on April 4. Reflecting their efforts and struggles, their work uniforms seem to be dirty again this year.

On April 1, as the wave of cherry blossoms was moving across the northern part of Japan, new employees arrived at Kyokuyo.

While Japan's economy has finally emerged from a long period of deflation, prices are now rising and the economic environment is becoming more difficult for households.

In order to provide direct support to families raising children who will lead Japan's next generation, Kyokuyo has decided to generously expand its Childcare Gift Program effective April 1.

The Kyokuyo Open Golf Tournament, which was suspended after 2019 due to the COVID disaster, was finally held for the first time in four years on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Shimonoseki Golden Golf Club. This year's tournament was the 60th edition.

Three months have passed since the June litter picking, and now it's time for "Autumn Marine Litter Zero Week". We, being a member of the Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders, are taking part in the nationwide effort to clean up marine litter.

Remember KYOKUYO BLUE STARS? It is the official cutter club of Kyokuyo, formed in 2017. They have been participating in the Shimonoseki Cutter Race, which is held in our hometown of Shimonoseki every year (except during the interruption period), without fail since the 6th race.

Hello everyone, my name is Hiromichi Aiba, General Manager of the Design Division. I am pleased to announce my appointment as the new Senior Managing Director, replacing Tetsuo Mitsui, who stepped down as Director and assumed the position of Chief Technical Fellow.

This year's annual training for new recruits at the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center (ORSC, Saiki City, Oita Prefecture), has been completed and a graduation ceremony was held on June 30.

The time has come again for the "Marine Litter Zero Week".

On May 10, the naming and delivery ceremony for the second ship in the series of 1,096 TEU container carriers, "A WASHIBA" took place in even better weather conditions than the previous ceremony. The event was attended by guests from New General Aviation International Pte. Ltd., the shipowner, and ITOCHU Corporation.

On April 3, along with the blooming of the cherry blossoms, eight new employees brought a spring breeze to our company.

The Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders (CAJS), an industry organization of small and medium-sized shipbuilders of which we are a member, has recently opened official SNS accounts (Instagram / Twitter / note) and started sharing the coolness of ships and the fun of shipbuilding.

On September 22, we participated in a litter-picking activity as part of the "National Autumn Marine Litter Zero Week" nationwide cleanup campaign organized by the Ministry of the Environment and the Nippon Foundation.
