Signing of an Exchange of Notes (E/N) Concerning the Dispatch of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) to Tajikistan

On August 3, the E/N concerning the dispatch of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) to Tajikistan was signed by Ambassador of Japan Aiki Toshihiro and Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, in Dushanbe, the country’s capital city.

With the conclusion of the agreement, it will be possible to dispatch JOCV to Tajikistan for the first time ever. This is in addition to the Senior Volunteers (SV) who have been dispatched so far.

As yet, 19 short-term SV have been dispatched to Tajikistan, and the country welcomed its first long-term SV on July 20 of this year. It is expected that many JICA volunteers will be conducting activities and contributing to the development of Tajikistan in the near future.
