Emergency Assistance to the Federative Republic of Brazil in Response to the Damages caused by the Heavy Rain and Flood Disaster

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the flood disaster, upon the request from the Government of Federative Republic of Brazil.

1. Disaster situation
Flood, which occurred on the beginning of April has been causing serious human and property damage. According to the Government of Federative Republic of Brazil, the damage situation as of 16 May was as follows:

Affected 2,281,774
Missing 104
Evacuees 615,366

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
Water purifiers 75

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to Brasília on the next available flight.
