Previous research

I have studied human capital investment behaviours related to health and education from the economics perspective using microdata from African countries including Uganda, Kenya, and Botswana. Besides secondary data analysis, I have made strong efforts to design surveys and collect data from the field.

Current research projects

One ongoing project in which I am putting the most of my resources is a study of malaria in Western Kenya. The disease has been a leading cause of death in the area, and globally it is listed both in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals. My current project is an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to humans, mosquitos, and plasmodium with researchers in tropical medicine, entomology, epidemiology, and anthropology.
