Formation process of environmental policy under authoritarian regime in Taiwan(2022_1_40_011)

Outline

This research focuses on how environmental policy as well as prototypical public health and environmental health policy were formed under the authoritarian system in Taiwan from the mid-1960s to the end of the 1970s. Furthermore, we will clarify how the "early-stage" environmental policies under the authoritarian regime influenced the rapid development of environmental policies after democratization. It is thought that environmental policy shifted from the domain of public health, which was controlled and mobilized under the authoritarian system, to the domain of administrative services, based on the participation of citizens. As a basic study to clarify how such a shift occurred, we examine the policymaking process under the authoritarian regime and its background.
