Preparing a textbook and teaching materials for contemporary economies in Latin America(2021_2_40_003)

Outline

In the 21st century, the Latin American economy has been undergoing significant transformation. This transformation includes the rise of leftist governments, economic growth via the commodities boom, the expansion of an emerging middle class, the growing presence of China in international trade and investment, the change of leftist governments after the commodities boom, large-scale social unrest against inequality and corruption, and the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and society.

Existing textbooks in Japanese on Latin American economies were published almost 10 years ago. They dedicate many of their pages to the events of the 20th century. Therefore, this project aims to prepare a new textbook on contemporary Latin American economies in Japanese. In addition to a textbook, this project prepares other teaching materials that fit today’s online learning needs.
