Economic Effects of Road Infrastructure Development in the Greater Mekong Subregion(2020_2_40_015)

Outline

In the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), composed of Cambodia, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, and Yunnan Province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, the GMS East-West Economic Corridor, the GMS North-South Economic Corridor, and the GMS Southern Economic Corridor (cross-border transport infrastructure) have been developed as flagship projects for the GMS Economic Cooperation Program under an initiative of Asian Development Bank (ADB). In this research project, we empirically analyze the economic effects of road infrastructure development, including the economic corridors, regarding trade, investment, and other economic indicators.
