Social Protection and Values: The Case of Turkey (2019_2_40_005)
Outline
This research examines the impact of social protection policy on social values. We argue that social protection policy changes social values through redistribution and clientalism. We chose Turkey for a case study, as this country expanded its social protection in the 2000s. In particular, the research addresses the following: (1) the citizen perception of rights and benefits associated with social protection, (2) the relative impact of objective and subjective well-being on incumbent support, and (3) social values that determine support for social protection.
