Transformation of the ASEAN Commercial Banking Sector (2017_2_40_013)

Outline

Since the 2010's, regional capital participation in the ASEAN economy is progressing and the commercial banking sector of the ASEAN5 countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore) has been largely transformed. This research project aims to understand the current situation of the ASEAN commercial banking sector, including the regulations on and industrial organization of financial institutions, as well as the movements of the major banks in the region, taking into account the financial macroeconomic environment and capital flows.

This project is expected to show the meaning behind the current transformation in a historical perspective and the economic growth process of the ASEAN economy.
