Technological Transfer and Learning: The Construction of Pohang Steel Works in South Korea (2017_1_40_003)
Outline
The purpose of this study is to investigate the process of technological learning by the Korean steel industry during the construction of Pohang Steel Works in the 1970s. In particular, this study focuses on the step-by-step process of technological transfer of total steel engineering technology from a Japanese consortium and its absorption by POSCO. For this purpose, we will interview Japanese technical advisors and Korean engineers and collect the construction reports written by POSCO and Japanese advisors at that time.
