Three selected Experts – Ms. Adaora Ikenze (Nigeria), Mr. Matano Ndaro (Kenya), and Mr. Cristhian Lizcano (Colombia) – have been in Europe for two weeks of training and high-level engagements under the Global Partnership for Human-Centric ICT Standardization (GIST) project.
During their visit, the Experts have received in-depth orientation and technical training at the European Standardization Organizations (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI). The programme has included sessions on the European standardization system, standards supporting European regulations, the ESOs’ international cooperation mechanisms, and emerging ICT standardization priorities.
In addition to their training, the GIST Experts have had meetings with key services of the European Commission, including DG CONNECT, DG GROW and DG INTPA, which supervise and guide the GIST initiative. These exchanges focus on the EU’s International Digital Strategy, Global Gateway initiatives, aligning work plans, and supporting the Experts as they begin establishing the GIST presence in Nigeria, Kenya and Colombia. Experts’ work will also cover a regional dimension.
Ms. Adaora Ikenze, GIST Nigeria Expert, gave a webinar on the ICT Standardization Landscape in Nigeria and shared her initial draft workplans inviting stakeholders for feedback.
This visit marks an important early milestone in the rollout of the GIST Project, reinforcing the Experts’ role as local focal points for advancing dialogue, collaboration and awareness on human-centric and globally aligned ICT standardization.
