Its mission is to foster the European economy in global trading, the welfare of European citizens, and the environment. Through its services CEN provides a platform for the development of European Standards and other specifications. ABOUT CENELEC The European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization is officially responsible for standardization in the electrotechnical field. In an ever more global economy, CENELEC fosters innovation and competitiveness, making technology available not only to major businesses but also to SMEs through the production of voluntary standards. CENELEC creates market access at the European level but also at the international level through its cooperation agreement with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

    I’m very honoured to share that last Thursday 13.11.2025, in Brussels, I received the #CENandCENELEC Standards & Innovation Award in the new "Education" category, during the EU flagship event "From knowledge to impact: Shaping Europe’s next innovation wave" at the Centre Borschette. #CENandCENELEC This is the first edition of this award category dedicated to education, which makes this recognition even more special to me. #CENandCENELEC My heartfelt thanks go to: • #CENandCENELEC for recognising the crucial role of education in strengthening Europe’s standardization ecosystem; #CENandCENELEC • #PolitecnicodiMilano for providing an inspiring environment for both education and research; #polimi.it • #UNI – Ente Italiano di Normazione, the Italian national standardization body, for their continuous collaboration and support; #UNI - Ente Italiano di Normazione • #ETSI – European Telecommunications Standards Institute, for their support in the development of my textbook on standardization, as well as all my co-authors; #ETSI • All my colleagues in the #EDU4Standards.eu project, who are working to innovate how standardization is taught in European higher education; #edu4standards.eu • And most of all, my students, who have engaged with standardization with curiosity and enthusiasm and who give real meaning to this award. This recognition is a strong signal that education in standardization is becoming a strategic priority for Europe’s digital, green and socially responsible future.   • Setting the Standard: Strategic Dialogue for an Inclusive European Standardization System. On 17 November 2025, CEN and CENELEC, together with the Annex III organizations ANEC, ECOS, CES - ETUC, Small Business Standards (SBS) hosted a high-level event in Brussels to discuss the future of European Standardization. The dialogue focused on building an inclusive standardization system in light of pivotal legislative developments. We were honored to welcome MEP Anna Cavazzini, Chair of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee of the European Parliament, as keynote speaker. Her address emphasized: ✅ Standards as the backbone of the Single Market ✅ The importance of smart simplification through standardization ✅ Standards as a key enabler for companies to implement legislative decisions effectively Thank you to all participants for contributing to this meaningful dialogue. Together, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to a robust, inclusive, and future-ready European Standardization System. În Info.Standard 5.0 și în magazinul online găsești rapid standardele de care ai nevoie, le cumperi în siguranță și le ai imediat pe dispozitiv. Pentru IMM-uri, înseamnă acces simplu la informații actualizate și soluții adaptate la ce se întâmplă în piață. Așa aducem standardele mai aproape de cei care chiar le folosesc zi de zi. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 4 is all about Daniel and his favorite workspace: ASRO’s digital platforms. What used to be buried in folders is now one click away. In InfoStandard 5.0 and the online store, you can quickly find the standards you need, purchase them securely, and download them right away.   • 🚀 CEN and CENELEC publish their position on the proposed EU Space Act. As Europe advances its ambition to strengthen competitiveness in the global space economy, CEN and CENELEC have submitted a policy position outlining how standardization can support an effective and future-proof EU Space Act. Their key recommendations focus on creating a coherent and strategic regulatory framework: 🔹 Ensure consistency across EU legislation by applying a harmonized approach to Common Specifications, following proven models used in other sectors. 🔹 Integrate standardization early in the regulatory process. Rather than developing detailed technical rules through implementing or delegated acts, the paper highlights the value of relying on European Standards — and of formally requesting new ones where needed (e.g., cybersecurity, in-space servicing, environmental performance). 🔹 Strengthen coordination between the European Space Agency and the European Standardization Organizations to avoid fragmentation and ensure Europe speaks with one technical voice.
