New Central Information System of KEK started the operation in March 2009. This system serves mainly to analyze massive data for experiments at J-PARC with higher performance than before. Additionally, web services, e-mail services and other cyber infrastructures provided to researchers are renovated.
Research in High Energy Physics requires very large-scale facilities which cannot be hosted by a single nation. International collaboration is necessary for construction of facilities and massive data analysis. Data Grid is an IT solution to establish such worldwide data analysis environment. Our new Central Information System is recognized as an advanced case that deploys large scale data Grid technology.
In this new Central Information system, the HPSS developed by U.S. DOE laboratories and IBM is deployed for multi peta bytes scale data storage. HPSS is integrated with GRID technologies, such as NAREGI mainly developed by National Institute of Informatics, and EGEE mainly developed by CERN.
