National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) is one of the largest public research institute on industrial science and technology in Japan. By promoting the advanced research and development and exploiting the results of them to the industry and society, AIST attempts to bring forth innovations which contribute to both solve the social issues and strengthen the industrial competitiveness.
AIST Kyushu is the only base of AIST in the Kyushu and Okinawa regions, and it is assigned to contribute to the creation of innovations in the regions by playing the role of a “research base” and a “collaboration base”.
As the “research base”, AIST Kyushu leads the research and development of measurement and sensing technologies which contribute to the realization of smart manufacturing and manufacturing networks by advancing the new sensing, sensor networking, and data collection/utilization technologies.
As the “collaboration base”, it works closely with prefectural industrial technology research institutes, universities, technical colleges, and industry-supporting organizations in Kyushu and Okinawa. It also fetches all resources of AIST in Japan flexibly and efficiently. Through these efforts, it promotes to provide the solutions to companies which constitute regional core industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, food, agriculture and livestock.
AIST Kyushu also prepares a set “Minimal BGA Package Prototyping Line” of semiconductor. By collaborating with universities and public institutions which have semiconductor prototyping facilities, it provides the function of prototyping the various IoT devices. In such a way, it attempts to create a new device industry ecosystem in the region.
The most important mission of AIST is to provide the solutions to social issues by exploiting the research results to industry and society. Please feel free to ask AIST, if you have any technical difficulties.
