解説

シンタクス上正しい値の範囲はRFC 3986 Uniform Resource Identifier (URI): Generic Syntaxで定義されている。値自体はRFC 3987 Internationalized Resource Identifiers (IRIs)をURIにマッピングして符号化する。たとえば、https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/%は https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/%25と符号化され、http://موقع.وزارة-الاتصالات.مصر/はhttp://xn--4gbrim.xn----rmckbbajlc6dj7bxne2c.xn--wgbh1c/と符号化される。
