Summary: EJB deployer class not found exception with scoped SAR
Initial Comment:
Please see detailed description and steps to reproduce in
readme.txt in attached zip.
See boot.log in attached zip for system configuration.
The files in this zip demonstrate the following issue: if a
scoped SAR references archives in an external directory,
the classes in those jar files are not found when
deploying an EJB within that scoped SAR.

This has been done in 3.2 and will be done in head latter this week. The
testsuite has been moved from the jboss.net module to the testsuite module
and the namespace changed to org.jboss.test.webservice.

This needs to be done with j2ee1.4 in mind and is going to require the change
to the deployment layer to allow multiple deployers to operate on a deployment.

This is a generic issue which needs to be addressed in places other than just
the webservice layer.

The synchronization takes one when it registers - it releases it
at the end of afterCompletion, a few lines after the cache remove().
The cache takes one during the passivation.
Two lock refs.

Hi,
 Can any one provide me regarding the performance of the JBOSS in the
terms of handling max no. of transactions per second and the other details.
How is the availability of the server?
TIA

Right, but does this not mean we are leaking cache entries in this
scenario? This did not appear to be a recursive call so why are there
more than one lock ref here?

Summary: Memory leak and odd JMS Errors
Initial Comment:
I am in the process of trying to track down some
memory leaks in my jboss-based application. Along the
way, I ran into something that appears to be a bug.
Windows XP
j2sdk1.4.2_01
JBoss3.2.2RC4
Take the 'jboss-3.2.2RC4-src.tgz' from sourceforge and
build it.
Uncomment the 'rem set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -
Xms128m -Xmx512m' line in run.bat.
Copy the .sar file from the attached zip into the
default/deploy directory.
Start the JBoss server.
The memory usage never levels off. However, the
speed at which it climbs varies from run to run. I've
seen the server hit 300mb of memory (taskmanager)
usage in 40 minutes or take 90 minutes to hit the 200mb
mark.
The attached sar contains an mbean that sends 10
TextMessages to the 'queue/A' JMS queue every 100
milliseconds.
The attached zip includes a log file from one of my
runs. Please note the errors in the log file. The
frequency with which they appear *seems* to coincide
with the amount of memory used.
I've also included the source to the mbean.

You are not using the "java:/ConnectionFactory" binding, you
are using the "ConnectionFactory" binding. This is looking
up the OIL version rather than the in vm socketless
transport. Use
InitialContext ctxt = new InitialContext();
QueueConnectionFactory connFactory =
(QueueConnectionFactory)ctxt.lookup("java:/ConnectionFactory")
to access the in vm transport.

Switching out the Hypersonic ConnectionManager for one
that stores messages in SQL2k appears to fix the problem. I
also seem to be getting much fewer bind exceptions as well.
Since getting rid of Hypersonic is also on my list of tasks, I'm
fine with this solution.
I'm using java:/ConnectionFactory just because every
example I've ever seen uses that. Do I just change that to
java:/OIL2ConnectionFactory to switch to OIL?

I haven't tried your test.
The errors in your log shows a Bind exception when the server
tries to connect back to the client.
Since this is a client socket attaching to server socket
inside the
JMS client, I can only assume it is the client port that
cannot be bound.
This is a problem at the OS level (or maybe the VM).
It is assigning your client socket a port that is already in
use?
Incidently, since this is in the same VM, why are you using
java:/ConnectionFactory (method calls)
instead of OIL which uses two (local) sockets?

Adrian

Summary: Random ClassCircularityError
Initial Comment:
There's an Aug 7 forum posting discussing a seemingly
random ClassCircularityError:
http://www.jboss.org/thread.jsp?
forum=61&thread=37650&message=3796384&q=ClassCirc
ularityError#3796384
I experienced something similar myself today; happened
once at startup and hasn't been repeated. Below is a
stack trace in case it's helpful to someone.
Further background: The thread in this trace is started
by a ServletContextListener at webapp startup. The
webapp is in an ear that has its own loader-repository.
I'm running 3.2.2RC3.

That is because the instance synchronization still holds the lock
reference.
The cache also takes a lock reference at passivation.
1+1 == 2 > 1 which is what tryToPassivate checks.
In plain English, the Cache is saying I cannot passivate this
instance because somebody else besides me has a lock reference.
The fact that "the somebody else" has told the Cache to remove it
is not taken into account.

Adrian

The EnterpriseEntityStressTestCase is generating failure to passivate
warnings when run with the following settings:
junit.timeout=180000000
jbosstest.iterationcount=1000
jbosstest.threadcount=50
jbosstest.beancount=500
marathon.duration=86400000
marathon.timeout=86580000
marathon.threadcount=100
A trace of the location shows this occuring during the tx commit with option
c. I added some debugging to the EntityInstanceCache.canPassivate method to
log why it was returning false and it is the BeanLockManager.canPassivate that
is returning false.

Regards,
Adrian
