I started a new question on Stack Overflow and the wizard form was shown for me, which uses the Stacks Editor. The Stacks Editor showed edit text boxes, but did not show a view of the actual formatted text below (as the normal editing form does in the rest of Stack Exchange). Without it showing a preview, it makes it much harder to understand how the HTML question will look like once posted.

(from memory) there's a mode switch toggle in the top-right corner of the editor frame which should show 3 options. One of those options is Markdown with preview. IIRC, it's the option on the right.
It will be good to have an option Markdown with preview by default as the most convenient and familiar from other SE editors mode.

If you prefer that the Stacks Editor default to Markdown with preview mode to see changes in real-time, please note that the editor currently saves your last-used mode. Once you set it to Markdown with preview, it'll remain your default setting moving forward. This ensures that every time you open the editor, it will start in the mode you last used.

6It seems clear to me that the point of the question is that when this editor is rolled out everywhere, users will all of a sudden have a completely different view. It should default to a view that is most similar to the existing one.miken32– miken322025年06月09日 22:08:08 +00:00Commented Jun 9 at 22:08
