Wanted to point this out: you only need to show an acronym in the lead section if you use it again in the lead section, since you have to introduce it again in the article body. For instance, if I don't have "NET" elsewhere in the lead section, then I don't need to say National Educational Television (NET)
with acronym. In general, this applies within bodies, too (though separately from lead sections). NBC, CBS and PBS are titled at their acronyms, so this doesn't apply. The exception we have in TV stations pages is the ABC network, which is acronym only on first mention even though the article is American Broadcasting Company. - Gonna make another comment in regard to duplicate links. WP:DUPLINK states,
Link a term at most once per major section,[a] at first occurrence. Do not re-link in other sections if not contextually important there. Other mentions may be linked if helpful, such as in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, and hatnotes.
- ↑ Generally level-2 sections (
== ... ==) are considered "major", but consensus at an article may determine that a lower-level subsection is major, especially when a preceding subsection is very long, or when an article's structure puts most content under level-3 headings with level-2 ones primarily used for thematic grouping, or when a subsection is a link target at which many readers arrive directly.
- WTVI is that lopsided article with big level-3 use.
- In the case at WTVI, WCCB is duplinked on purpose. I hadn't mentioned the station since a mention of WUTV on 36 (where I put a footnote for comprehension, so people didn't think this 36 had anything to do with WCNC). Broadcast stations change call signs more often than most other topics change names. And in the 30+ years between mentions of WUTV/WCCB, the station even changed channels. Information icon Hi LetterheadAgitated63! I noticed that you recently made an edit at WXTV-DT and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. I want to keep the section about NBC's ownership of Philadelphia as a separate section in 1994–1996 United States broadcast television realignment. NBC was committed to owning a station in Philadelphia and it was a key moment in the television realignment of 1994-96. In addition, NBC had ownership of major television markets part of their strategic plan to stay the highest-rated network during the early 1990s.
