IDEAlliance, a leading trade association dedicated to fostering XML and other information technology standards, today announced that XML Conference and Exposition 2003 will feature 14 presentations on government-related applications of XML technologies and standards.

"The U.S. federal government, state governments and the military have recognized the advantages of using XML as a basis for their applications." says Lauren Wood, XML 2003 conference chair. "These presentations will show various aspects of XML in practical use."

Reginald L. Hobbs, computer scientist with the Army Research Laboratory, is giving a presentation titled "Using XML to Support Military Decision-Making" on Thurs., Dec. 11, at 2:45 p.m.

"XML is improving military efficiency in a number of areas," says Hobbs. "My presentation will focus on XML and XML technologies in the military decision-making process, specifically through modelling and simulation environments."
