Chronology of Kyorin University

1953 Dr. Shinyu Matsuda opened the Mitaka Shinkawa Hospital, the origin of the university.

1966 Kyorin Junior College founded.
(predecessor of the Faculty of Health Sciences)

1970 Kyorin University Faculty of Medicine and Kyorin University Hospital established.

1972 Higher Education of Nursing founded.
(now called the Nursing School, affiliated with the Facutly of Medicine)

1976 Graduate School of Medicine established.

1979 Faculty of Health Sciences established (Department of Medical Technology, Department of Health Sciences).

1984 Faculty of Social Sciences and the Graduate School of Health Sciences established.

1988 Faculty of Foreign Studies established (Department of British and American Studies, Department of Chinese, Department of Japanese).

1993 Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies established.

1994 Department of Nursing created in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

2001 Department of Foreign Languages created in the Faculty of Foreign Studies.

2004 Course of International Medical Cooperation created in the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies.

2006 Department of Clinical Engineering created in the Faculty of Health Sciences; Department of Business Administration created in the Faculty of Social Sciences; Departments of English, East Asian Languages, and Applied Languages created in the Faculty of Foreign Studies.

2007 Department of Health Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences is renamed Department of Health and Welfare. Department of Paramedics is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences.

2008 Department of East-Asian Languages is renamed The Department of Chinese-Japanese Languages.
Master's Program of Nursing is founded in the Graduate School of Health Sciences.

2009 Department of Physical Therapy is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The International Language Communication Program is opened in the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies.

2010 Department of Hospitality and Tourism is added to the Faculty of Foreign Studies.
Doctoral Program of Nursing is added to the Graduate School of Health Sciences.

2011 Department of Occupational Therapy is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences.

2012 Nursing major and Nursing and School Nursing major established in the Department of Nursing (Faculty of Health Sciences).

2013 Department of Medical Radiological Technology created in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

2016 Inokashira Campus opened in Mitaka City.

2018 Department of Clinical Psychology is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences.

2020 The Nursing School, affiliated with the Facutly of Medicine has closed

2024 Kyorin University Suginami Hospital established.
