Famicomblog Sells Out

As I'm often complaining about on here, my apartment suffers from an acute lack of shelf space. Its a complete nightmare trying to store stuff in a Japanese apartment, they are just so small. The addition of a dog to the family - which has brought an avalanche of new products (many of them designed to remove pee stains from various types of fabric) - has further upset the already delicate shelf space/worldly possessions balance.

Something had to give and that something has been the massive quantities of surplus Famicom stuff I have accumulated over the years. Everything must go. Well, not everything. My hallowed collection of 670 unique Famicom carts (and counting) stays. But if I want room for the remaining 400 or so that I need to complete the entire set, the doubles have to go.

So I finally got off my ass and figured out how to set up a paypal account. And my first sale, to Michael over at TechSquid, went quite well.

So, feeling emboldened, I've decided to set up a little sales page over at Famicom World. I promise this will be the only time I use this blog to plug stuff like this, but I've put up a couple hundred games and other odds and ends so if you are looking for some Famicom games I might have them there.

I'll probably update it once in a while if things go well, I have a ton of other stuff that I just haven't gotten around to sorting out yet. My loft has been transformed into a huge mess with all the sorting, photographing, etc. My advice is to never get as many Famicom carts as I have - they are just such a headache to deal with.

No wait, I'm getting off message. I should be encouraging you to buy stuff - go, buy! Lots of games. Look into my eyes, look into my eyes: you want to buy lots of Famicom games!

  1. You don't have to apologize for posting this here, Sean. First, it's your blog. Second, I'm sure lots of people who visit will be interested in buying some of your extras. Heck, *I* would buy some, too, if I had any money at the moment. Anyway, I'll bet most of them will be gone in a jiffy and you'll find yourself with all the space you need to store products that will help you remove dog pee from various surfaces in your apartment :)

  2. Would you be interested in sending a random lot of games to the US? Maybe for like 20ドル or so? You can pick the games! Right now, I only have six Famicom games and want to get more, but it's a little difficult from America. So, I don't really care what games they are. If you're interested, I'll let you know what games I have so I don't get doubles either.

I'll even blog about it on my Tumblr!

  3. Thanks Bryan! You're right - it is my blog and I'll advertise on here as much I want! :)

The sale has been pretty good so far - two sales finished and about a half dozen more pending. But for the fact that I have now had to devote shelf space to tape, envelopes, bubble wrap, boxes and other shipping stuff I would be really clearing out some shelf space!

  4. Nate - fantastic idea!

OK here is what I can do (and I can do this for any other readers, price might vary depending on country due to shipping costs). For 22$ US I will send a lot of 5 Famicom carts. Price includes shipping via economy airmail (delivery in 2-3 weeks).

The 5-pack won't have any valuable carts, but I promise:

    - I won't include any games that require Japanese to play (ie no RPGs, etc)
    - I won't load it up with crap Mahjong and Derby games, etc. It will include a good variety, each game being one that in my opinion can be enjoyable to play.
    - Send me a list of games that you already have or specifically don't want and I won't include them.

Sound good? If so, give me an email at:

  5. Oh noo! :( The collection is being downsized? I know what you mean actually, I've been gradually selling off most of my stuff too, mainly due to lack of space. Hope your sales go well! :)

  8. Michael - LOL, sorry about that slip of the keyboard there! Corrected!

    Nate - Great, message received!

Simon - Yup, well, the "Collection" (capital "C") is staying put. Only the carts I have more than 1 copy of are being downsized! And thanks!

  9. Also, helpful hint. Make a mobile version of your blog. You can do this by going to to Template, then mobile, and click the gear button. (I'm using blogger in draft so it might be different for you).

  10. Thanks for the tip! I gave it a try but the set up is different. I'll try to figure it out though, that is a good idea to have a mobile version too!

  11. Skyrunner14 here, posting from school which is why I can't use my usual account.

A mobile version of this blog is a great idea! I like coming here on my 3DS, and while I can read the articles OK, I can't leave any comments... strange, but there you go. Can't wait to see how the idea plays out!

  12. Just to make it clear, making a mobile version is just a setting in blogger. Nothing further than that!

  13. Thanks Skyrunner and Michael! Sounds simple, just have to find the right button....

  14. Nothing wrong with a clearout Sean - I do them periodically, but I'm such a hoarder :P

    Good luck with the sales!

  15. Thanks, Sean! The sale has been pretty good so far, I've sold about 100 games. I think I'll make this a monthly thing!

  16. D:

I was looking at Famicoms on eBay after reading back through your blog, and I was tempted to ask if you'd sell me one of your 11. I kind of gave up because of the price and because I couldn't find any cheap famicom games on eBay.

And then I tune back into the present to find I've missed so much! I would have snapped up the Rockman games, and the two 1ドル lots as well as a Famicom if you had one (needs to be a regular famicom to mod to AV).

Well, if you have any lots of 1ドル games or rockman games AND a famicom (no point without one!) can you let me know?

  17. Oh hang on, the 1ドル are all majong and football :P Maybe the 2ドル ones. And Rockman and Rockman-like games! CAPCOMMMM!!!

  18. Hi Soop!

Thanks for the comments. I do indeed have a Famicom available that I could let go to a good home for a cheaper price than on Ebay.

    Pop me an email at:

    famicomblog (at mark) hotmail.com

The 1$ games are basically all sports and mahjong (got lots of baseball games left). There are some decent games in the 2-3$ range that I have left though.
