I suspect the answer is never as no real work has been done on improvong the forums for some years. You could add it to the official wishlist (see http://feedback.wikidot.com/system:page-tags/tag/forum/category/wish) but I suspect it would get rejected for on the grounds of security and the constant fight again webspam as this feature would be a real target for spammers.
